NEW YORK WEDDING FOR MONICA AND MICHAEL

It's now Friday, September 26th... We've only been home from Italy for 3 days, and its time to head to our niece Monica's wedding to Michael.  All the family and many friends will be there. The main hotel for the group is the W at Union Square, and Ray and I are at the nearby Gramercy Park Hotel.
It reminds me of an old Scottish Castle inside with a wonderful bar and party space to the right of the lobby. Complete with pool table and lots of couches. To the left of the lobby is an excellent Italian Restaurant called "MAIALINO".....

Friday evening was a welcome cocktail reception at the bride and groom's new apartment in Brooklyn. A great open space with a big kitchen and full of people celebrating. We met their friends
and had a great time. Julie was in from California, Dave and Kait from Orlando, and my parents, Evelyn and Harry. Of course my sister, Chris, and her husband , Tom were very much involved in the whole process.

Beautiful Summery weather all weekend!!! Saturday morning, Ray and I got up and walked around the neighborhood and found a good diner breakfast. Then a visit to the lovely Gramercy Park adjacent to our hotel....... Later we lunched at the Union Square Cafe with Family members who were ALL in NYC for the wedding.

The Wedding was just wonderful. About 100 guests, all family and friends of the couple. It was a beautiful Summery evening, and the ceremony and reception were held on the back patio of a nearby
restaurant. Craig supplied the tunes as our DJ, and everyone partied and danced. After the restaurant closed up, the party moved to a basement lounge at the W hotel, where many of the guests were staying. Ray called it a night, and Dave and I  headed downtown to catch the last few tunes in a set at the Mercury Lounge with our favorite band, THE DOWNBEAT KEYS..... Great sound and a fun crowd! YEs, a late night...

Breakfast was in Soho at Monica's friend Stephen's coffee shop, "Ground Support".  We had all the coffee and pastries we could eat. Then Dave and Kait wanted to hit Lombardis, a famous pizza shop a few block away. They bought 2 pizzas and we took them back to the W. many friends came by to sample as they were checking out of the hotel.

Ray and I stayed one extra evening after the gang departed..... to see THE BOOK OF MORMAN.
We had a snack at a little Japanese place near the theater. The show was WILD!!!!
Then back to the hotel for a late night supper at Maialino... again! Love that place.

A really LOVELY wedding weekend in the Big Apple, and so nice to be with family and old friends.
