APRIL 2013 WEEKEND TRAVEL

April, 2013 travel was all about FAMILY!!!

Weekend of April 6 and 7

We drove up to Montreal to visit Rays Family. Stayed just one lovely night at the newly renovated RITZ HOTEL on Sherbrooke Avenue....

Saturday night we met many members of Rays family at the Restaurant "Laurie Raphael" for a group dinner. The food was nice, but the service was painfully slow, and we sat at the table for about 3 1/2
hours......
Lunch on Sunday was at Claude and Ginette's house and the highlight was Eric and Joelle came and brought their new baby! We had a really nice time.... Ray's mom, Angele, does a great job of keeping up at 91 years young.

Monday, April 8th,  Cyn to Boston For Berklee College of Music PAC meeting and Dinner.....
Stayed at the Boston Marriott. Monday I met Katherine H at the hotel and we went to the MFA for lunch at the restaurant there. Great to see her! Then the meeting at 3pm. This was opening day for the Red Sox and town was crazy!! I had breakfast Tuesday am with Ginny F , and then headed back on the bus........

Weekend of April 13 and 14

Ray and I visited My family in Delaware. Stayed at the Inn at Montchanin in the countryside near Wilmington .

This was final moving out day for our parents, Evelyn and Harry. They sold their house at 208 SAturn
Drive, where my Brother, Craig, Sister, Chris and I grew up. They now live at Cokesbury Village in Hockessin, just 3 miles from the house.
So Craig and his wife Bridget, came from California, and we all worked to pack up the last things at the house and do some cleaning.

We worked hard during the day Saturday, then all gathered at Harrys Seafood Grill for dinner, and to the Delaware theater Company to see "South Pacific"...... a big Day! Evelyn was pretty ready to go, but Harry was sad, and had to walk the back yard and take a last look at all the trees he planted and tended for the last 53 years.... He built a last fire out by the garden, and one in the woodstove on the back porch. He will miss those fires.

Sunday we finished up at the house and bade it goodbye together. A proper farewell, well done.
Chris and Tom did an amazing job removing all Ev and Harry's furniture and effects from the house over a period of just a few weeks!

Sunday evening, Craig Bridget, Ev and Harry went to dinner at the home of Craig's friend Steve Peterson. Ray and i met Chris and Tom at  a good restaurant in Wilmington, "Eclipse".... Wonderful Food!

Weekend of April 20 and 21

Sunapee House! Dinner Friday at the New London Inn... Saturday afternoon, I went back to Lebanon for dear Whit Dickey's memorial service. Saturday night was dinner at Ellies with Harry and Suzanne Tether.  Brunch Sunday was at the house with Alki and Shannon. I made the meal, and Ray opened a bottle of wine that was supposed to be to old to be good. It was DELISH and we all shared it. Fun!
I worked on some music with Alki, then we headed home.  I went to the 5pm show at Northern STage... Last performance of "No sex please, we're British"..... very funny. Then met Ray for dinner at Carpenter and Main.

Weekend of April 26 - 28

Ray and I flew to DENVER for the weekend to visit our Julie.  We arrived in time for a late dinner at Julies house. She made us a BEAUTIFUL vegetable Shephards Pie and roasted asparagus , her delicious Kale salad, and cookies with coconut milk whipped cream. We loved it and were so pleased she cooked us a beautiful meal! But home to bed after as it was quite late.

Tuesday we met Julie at the Science and Nature Museum, but did not stay as it was jammed and too crowded. We took sandwiches to Julie's house and had lunch in the back yard, then a walk to a nearby park and coffee at the 29th Ave shopping area. It was a beautiful day. Dinner was at "Panzano"
restaurant.... good Italian near the hotel, the Denver RITZ....... That was the famous night Julie and I sent back our vegan meal and were delighted we did. The dish they brought us when they decided to take us seriously was elegant!! The chef came to talk to us about it.

Sunday was Lunch at UDI's Cafe near Julie's house with Julie and her good friend Ali, and her boyfriend Andrew. It was SO great to see Julie. She is planning to come back to New Hampshire
for a visit in May.
